On May 5th, 25 year old athletic trainer Brian Smart took part in the 10 mile Broad Street Run. In a sudden turn of events, Brain collapsed right before mile marker 8. Soon after, Brian was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania due to an enlarged heart.
Brian was a registered organ donor and was able to enhance the lives of many by donating corneas, skin, and bone, which his father says continues a lifelong dedication to service. Thank you Brian! Donors are heroes!
