Caring, loving, loyal, happy, kind, funny, smart, generous, and honorable are just some of the many words that could describe my husband, Doug Schweizer.
Doug always believed that you should treat every moment as if it were your last and that is the way he lived. Doug lived life to the fullest. He loved life! He was taken from us way too soon. While on a road trip up north from our home in NC to see family in NJ, he had a heart attack at a gas station along route 95 in Delaware. I am very thankful that I was with him at the time so I was able to help as much as I could. It was unexpected as he had no history of heart issues. We had just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary and he had just turned 54 years old. He believed in organ donation. He proudly displayed the organ donation heart on his driver license. He would be so happy knowing that he was able to donate tissue and bone.
Doug had many interest but his true focus was always our family— the two of us and our dog name Marco. We enjoyed spending time together! Life together was so much fun! We would spend countless hours having fun flying in our airplane, riding our tandem bicycle, boating or swimming at the beach. Doug loved to surf and I loved watching him surf!
Doug’s nature was always to be kind to everyone. He would always jump into help any person or animal who was in need.
Doug was a true example of all that was great in this world and anyone who knew him would agree. We all miss him terribly! I sincerely thank the Gift of Life Donor Program for helping keep Doug’s memory alive.
