The quilt square made for Duane symbolizes the things in his life that he treasured. The most cherished of these was his love for his family. His name is surrounded by hearts. All the hearts represent our love for him and his love for us. Family was his single more valued possession and the greatest of all. Life for Duane was always about spending time together, having fun, supporting each other, and creating moments that will remain in our hearts and minds forever. Dog paws represent his love for his canine buddies. They brought him much joy as he spent many hours caring for them and even cooking for them. The waves represent the ocean where Duane enjoyed spending many moments. He found tranquility in the waves and would walk the beaches for many hours enjoying the water, warmth, and sea breezes. The kitchen items represent his love for food and how much he enjoyed cooking for all of us especially his Italian entrees. He lovingly made homemade macaroni and enjoyed using his Mom’s Scolamacarone. Many moments enjoyed and shared around the dining room table at holidays featured his culinary creations. The golf balls and tees bring to mind the many hours he spent on the greens and his love for the game, not only in the game itself but in moments he shared with family and friends on the course. Books represent his love for reading. He enjoyed reading very much after he retired and spent many hours out front in his Adirondack chair reading and enjoying his neighbors that stopped by to chat or have a beer. We will miss him always, but he is forever in our hearts.
