Francis C. “Frank” Brady, 65, died on Sunday, January 13, 2019, in his Muhlenberg Township home. He was born November 2, 1953… sharing a birthday with Daniel Boone, which was one of his favorite historic homesteads to visit.
Frank graduated from Drew University, Madison, NJ, where he was an All-American soccer player. After graduation, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Atoms of the North American Soccer League. He played for the Atoms and the New Jersey Americans, before turning to coaching, both at the collegiate and high school levels.
Frank was a self-described simple man, who loved God and his family most of all. That love is symbolized by a heart made out of one of his ties. He was proud of his Irish heritage and was lucky to have visited Ireland a few times (Brady crest). He especially enjoyed family vacations in Stone Harbor, NJ; his log cabin home in Muhlenberg, antiques, and reading just about anything, from history and sports books to the daily newspaper. He was also a HUGE Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame fan. He loved listening to music: Barry White, Marvin Gaye, and Gloria Estefan, just to name a few. While reading or listening to music, he’d be found with a glass of homemade iced tea and pretzels.
In addition to his wife, Kyle, to whom he was married for 41 years, Frank is survived by their daughters: Kiernan, wife of Joe Melograna, Wyomissing; and Ashleigh, wife of Matt Hoelscher, Shillington; as well as four grandchildren, who were the lights of his life: Aidan and Evelyn Melograna, and Ian and Lauren Hoelscher.
