Donors Are Heroes
While waiting for his life-saving heart transplant, in the spring of 2000, Don Freeman and his wife Renee learned firsthand about the need for organ donors.
The experience led Don and Renee to form Donors Are Heroes, a volunteer group dedicated to raising public awareness about the importance of becoming an organ and tissue donor.
Funds raised by the group benefit the Gift of Life’s charitable Transplant Foundation, facilitating public education and awareness programs to support donation and transplantation, especially among young people, clergy and multicultural communities.
