Carolyn A. Shaw McGowen

August 22, 1938 – December 16, 1998

This patch is in remembrance of a loving mother and grandmother, known to her grandchildren as "Lovey." The scene depicted on the patch represents things that Lovey enjoyed being surrounded by. She loved the sunshine and being near water as it was her goal to retire to a warm climate, where she could spend her days on the beach, a dream that was never realized. She also loved nature and had a real "green thumb" with a great knowledge of plants and herbs. She planted the most beautiful gardens each year. This patch simply shows the serene things in life that Lovey would enjoy being surrounded by, including her grandchildren, which she loved to spoil. Her life was far from simple and her life was too short. Although we all miss her so very much we want her to be at peace and hope that wherever she is, the sun is bright, the water is warm, and the flowers are always in bloom. Since she was always such a loving and giving person, her story and patch have the privilege of being with other people who gave the gift of life, but in Lovey's case she was able to give the gift of sight.

Lovingly,

Her daughters Karen and Krista and grandchildren Tarin and Brett
