Daniel C. Bagenstose

This quilt block shows Dan in the center, surrounded by the names of those who love him. Mary is his wife, Todd and Tammy are his children and his five grandchildren are Morgan, Quin, Hannah, Anneliese, and Talia.

Dan worked as a rural postal carrier. He was well liked in the post office as well as by his customers on his route. He enjoyed rooting for Rusty Wallace in Nascar racing. He liked to take little trips to the casino, and played the lottery. He liked hunting, fishing and sitting around a campfire. He also kept a little garden where he planted things like tomatoes and pumpkins and watched them grow.

There were many things he enjoyed, but most importantly, he enjoyed being with his family. He enjoyed breakfast with his wife, loved to be with his kids and did all he could for them. But his grandchildren were his buddies. Everyone of them simply adore and love their PopPop. My fondest memories are of him interactive with them. He enjoyed building snowmen with them, taking them for a ride in a go-cart or on the lawn mower, and even licked the bowl with them when Nana made buttercream eggs.

Although we all miss him greatly, we are comforted in knowing that even in his death he was able to help someone else live a better life. He was truly a good, kind, and wonderful person. We are blessed to have had him in our lives.

Immortality lies not in the things you leave behind,

But in the people your life has touched.
