Rodney S. Miller

July 23, 1955 – February 7, 2005

When my husband died very suddenly in 2005, his death not only affected our family but an entire community. As a music educator in the Lebanon, PA school district, he touched the lives of hundreds of students. He passed his love of music on to his students and always took an interest in not only their musical progress, but their progress in life. He had a way of getting people to talk about themselves and was always interested in what they had to say. Even when people congratulated him on an award he received or on having another musical piece published, he would somehow turn the conversation away from himself. Probably the only time he would brag would be when talking about our son.

Rod was a teacher, a composer and an arranger. He served as the assistant conductor and vocal director of the Dave Stahl Sacred Orchestra. This quilt square, made by my sister Wendy, also an accomplished musician, was made from two of Rod’s ties and his Sacred Orchestra t-shirt. The star motif is appropriate, as Rod was a star in our eyes and now, his star shines brightly above us, comforting us with his memories.

All our love, always,

Kim and Andy
