Patrick Reynolds

Patrick Reynolds was a bright, caring and sensitive brother and son. We are still mourning his passing- a Friday morning, February 9th, 2007- just 4 days shy of his 51st birthday. After a two-day hospital stay- he was unexpectedly taken away by our Lord and Saviour.

Within hours, I received a phone call from the hospital asking if our family wanted to donate his corneas. We were thrilled that we were asked and said yes. A few weeks later we were told two separate transplants had been successful.

Patrick had many challenges throughout his life. And he was blessed with the gift of creativity- from making jewelry, bar of soap, wreaths, and many seasonal crafts. He also had a “green thumb”. He loved planting flowers and they grew to be quite beautiful and healthy. Last, but not least, he loved all kinds of animals. Over the years his pets included cats, dogs, lizards, an iguana, and several love birds. All these interest helped him so much to cope with his challenges.

He always remembered birthdays and took pride in giving gifts that were of special interest to that person. My mother likes owls, and thanks to Patrick, she has quite a collection.

My mother, my other brother, and I miss Pat very much. We are honored to be invited to participate in creating a “panel” for the Gift of Life Donor Program, and Hearts of Gold memorial quilt. We feel this is a great way to remember our loved one.
