Jean Carolyn Thomas’ patch is a representation of her love for music. Jean also known as “Songbird” love to write music and sing. Jean and her older sister Catherine Olivia Nichols started singing when they were 5 years of age, they were taught by their Aunt Rebecca Ware whom taught them how to sing and harmonize there melodious voices. Jean was known to sing with some of the best and well known performing artists, producers, and composers such as: Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff with Philadelphia International Records. Singing as a background artist for Len Barry, Dusty Springfield, The O’Jays, The Intruders, Songwriter for Harold Melvin in the Blue notes, Bunny Sigler, Sharon Paige traveling extensively around the world with Billy Paul the singer of Me and Mrs. Jones. Jean worked along with Jerry Blavet and Dick Clark. Jean’s group The Mellow Moods, sang “Tell Love Hello” which became the number 1 song on the radio charts.

Jean completed her album “Jean” in 2006 and graced us with the song “Never Lose Sight of Your Dreams” which was an inspiration to so many. The Debut of this CD took Jean’s inspiration even higher when she was able to give hope to one of her award winning friends Beverly Collins-Robert for featuring her Song “Never Lose Sight of Your Dreams” in recognition of the Unhushed Slavery Documentary regarding the City of Camden. Beverly has taken the CD and played it in Ghana. Jean never lost sight of her dream and she was always persistent and happy about her life.

This patch depicts a red rose with two music notes. Our mother was like a flower- So beautiful and graceful and the music notes represent her and her sister who will be forever connected through their love of music.
