Alan Epler

August 16, 1977 – June 22, 2010

In loving memory of Alan. It broke our hearts when you left us. Alan was a truly beautiful person and all who knew him were blessed to have him in their lives. He was taken much too soon. He is greatly missed and thought of every day.

Alan loved skiing, NASCAR races, flying kites, playing cards, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. He also enjoyed going to New York City for the day and to see a play. He also loved his cat Kytt.

When Alan died friends from all over the United States came for his funeral from Florida to Washington State. There were so many people to remember him. He would have been so surprised and proud. He was loved by all and he would do anything for his friends and family. He was always there for everyone in good times and bad and had an impact that will never be forgotten. Thank you so much Allyson, Stacy and Kim as well as all the others who stuck by him after he got sick.

Alan was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March of 2005. He was operated on at John's Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and did very well for over a year. After the operation he was told that it was cancerous and he would probably have 2 to 10 years, he had 5. He made the statement that he would be willing to go into a clinical trial if it might help someone else in the future. He started to have short term memory problems late the following summer. It got very bad and in August he had his first appointment at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda Maryland. The clinical trial he was in was concluded before he died and the drugs were approved for use with brain tumors. He would be so proud. The last year he was alive he had been sent to rehab and was showing improvement with the memory issues.

Alan will always be my best Angel. I miss you more than you know.

Love, Mom and Grandma
