Henry Long, Jr.

1938-2009

The piece of fabric I chose for the memorial quilt reflects the great love my late husband, Henry, had for the Country of Scotland where he was stationed for two years in the United States Navy while serving his country with great pride. It also symbolizes his Scottish heritage. The fabric is a piece of material from his kilt which was custom made for him which he wore on festive occasions while in Scotland.

Displayed on the quilt is an anchor which symbolizes his four years of service in the United States Navy. The Stars and Stripes represent the love for his country. The blue and white stars symbolize the light which shined through his eyes and was his Gift of Life.
