Allen G. Eckenrode, Jr.

4/9/1951 – 8/3/2011

I lost my best friend and the love of my life. My heart is broken. From the first time we met, we knew that we would be together. I am very lucky to have had Allen, even if it was for such a short time. He has become a part of me and I will have him in my heart forever.

Our beautiful children are a part of his legacy and he loved them all dearly. I see so much of him in each of them. Julie has her dad’s sense of right and wrong and his empathy for others. Katie has his sense of compassion and caring. She also had his love of cats. We could not have asked for any better children, they are reflections of him and he was so proud of each one of them.

I am very fortunate to have been married to Allen. He was my strength through good times and bad. I knew that I could always count on him no matter what. I love him more than life.

Allen was nicest person I ever met. He was truly one of the “Good Guys!” He would help anyone who needed it and expect nothing in return. Everyone he met was his friend and he would remember them. We never went anywhere that we didn’t run into someone that he knew.

Allen would not want us to mourn over our loss, but rather to remember what we loved most about him. His kindness and caring, especially for older people. Allen would treat everyone the same, young and old rich and poor it made no difference to him. But, what I think we will all remember the most about him was his wonderful and sometimes annoying sense of humor. He could bring a smile to anyone’s face just by a look or gesture. He helps us all to be able to laugh at ourselves and lighten a moment. I am sure everyone who knew him has some amusing story to tell.

Even with his death he is still helping other. Three lives have already been changed forever through his donation.

Allen was the love of my life and I will miss him more than life itself. I will always cherish our time together. He was a wonderful man and I am proud and honored to have been his wife. I will love him forever!!
