Cletus M. Bonds III

Cletus M. Bonds III – a unique name for a unique man – was Clete, Dad, Granddad to his family and friends. He has a brilliant mind and a huge heart. He was a man of faith who lived his faith caring for the disadvantaged. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he became an honored dentist who specialized in treating mentally and physically handicapped patients. An avid University of Kentucky fan and Civil War buff, his interests ranged from sports to history to science and literature. But he was more than an intelligent professional, he was truly enlightened, accepting of everyone. From being a role model for his sons who are now great men, husbands and fathers themselves, to caring for every member of his family, Clete offered unconditional love and support. Throughout his adult life, he gave to the community from volunteering at clinics to giving blood, and he was always registered as an organ donor. So, when the time came that I had to give permission to donate his organs, I did not hesitate. I knew without a doubt that was what he wanted. A few weeks ago, my five-year-old grandson asked me, “Was Granddad a superhero?” Once again, I answered without hesitation – “Absolutely!”
