William Cantara

November 6, 1953 – November 20, 2011

Bill’s twelve year old son Mac designed and made this quilt square to honor his Dad. Bill’s passions in life were his family, scuba diving and star gazing. From an early age Mac and his younger brother Phoenix loved to setup the telescope with Bill and gaze up at the evening sky. Bill loved to scuba dive and most of our vacations were centered around this activity. While the boys were not old enough to scuba with their Dad, he taught both of them at an early age to snorkel. A few months before his death, he took the boys snorkeling over the reed in Cozumel. I will always remember the view of seeing Bill and the boys floating over the reef holding hands and the look of excitement in their faces when they finally came in. The boys most cherished possessions are the megalodon teeth Bill found while scuba diving. We are very proud of Bill that he made the decision to be a donor and find comfort in knowing his gift may have helped another family.
