Ralph H. Helbing

1/4/53 – 7/23/11

Ralph was a loving husband and father, who learned to be a caregiver at the early age of 15 after his father passed away. He was a person who always cared for others more than himself and was a registered organ donor at an early age.

Ralph was a plumbing and fire protection designer at Highland Association who loved going to work and doing the work he did. An avid New York Giants fan, he was part of the team that built the original Meadowlands Stadium. He was a lifetime volunteer member of Scott Township Hose Company, often putting his life on the line for others.

The flowers are anthurium and represent the first flowers he gave his wife (then girlfriend) in college. He worked for a florist at the time and although they were tropical and expensive, I didn’t recognize them as flowers. This was a private joke for many years.

Golf was another passion for Ralph and besides leagues, he would also golf with the sales reps for work. He would call this his “marketing career”.

Since his passing, he has given us many signs in the form of a grasshopper. Last year our godchild carved this pumpkin and after a rough day it was a pleasant surprise to find on our doorstep.

Ralph passed away in his sleep. It was hard on us as a family, but we are grateful to God that he did not suffer.

We miss you dearly and there’s a hold in our hearts, but your spirit is always with us.

Your loving wife Pat and son Brandon.
