Robert Schorr

As a young married man and father of 2, Bob decided to fulfill his dream and start his own business.

He wanted to open a business that would make his family proud and that he could pass on to his children and they could pass on to their children. He wanted his business to be a place where people could come and ask for help, ask questions and leave not as a customer but as a friend. Bob loved to work on engines, he loved to talk old things and make them new. He loved the challenge of taking an older engine which others had said the parts were “no longer available” and made the parts.

He had many people call and ask to have a “no longer available” or hard to find part made for their engine. His love for making new things was what helped us decide to donate to the Gift of Life Program. We hope his old parts were used to make someone else as close to new as possible.

As the father of 2, Bob helped his young son rebuild engines on mini bikes, go carts and eventually automobiles. He taught his daughter the importance of maintenance of a vehicle; he even permitted her to pull the transmission from a customer’s vehicle.

Bob also loved to drag race. His family spent many weekends drag racing at Numidia. While racing, Bob taught his children that winning is not important but that spending the weekend with the people you love was far more important. Bob had many friends at Numidia, but his favorite thing was his children and their friends waiting for him at the return lane. They would all pile into the “race” car and drive through the pits with Bob. Bob’s small children gave him a red stuffed animal which remained in the “race” car until the day of Bob’s funeral services. At that time, the stuffed animal was placed with Bob and went with him to Heaven.

Bob loved having his grandchildren spend time with him in his business. He gave his only grandson an old engine to tear down and rebuild. He loved having his granddaughter spend time in the business; she would answer the phone and say “Schorr Performance, how may I help you?”

Bob loved working with his hands and facing a challenge. He taught his children that if you work hard, face any challenge head on and with the love and support of your family they could do anything they wanted to do.

With his hard work, determination and support of his family Bob was able to fulfill his dream and create his business, which was well known in our town, this was his dream: “Schorr Performance”.

Bob leaves behind a family who will never forget him, and will pass his love and hopefully some of his knowledge onto future generations.
