Gary Gray

My name is Mary Gray, my husband passed on October 30th, 2011. Gary was 70 years old and we were married for 38 years. It was the second marriage for both of us. We came into the marriage with two children from his first marriage and I had three from my first marriage. Not too many men would take on the challenge of beginning a new life with five children, but Gary was an exception. For this I will be eternally grateful. Three years later we added another child between us.

Gary loved to travel, although he still had many places he would have loved to visit, he has left me with wonderful memories.

It wasn’t until the day he died that I found out he was a donor. I received a call asking permission to harvest his corneas. That was the way he was, giving and unassuming.

The quilt block depicts Gary in the center, surrounded by each of our six children by a heart which is accompanied by a flower, blue for male, pink for female for their children, our Grandchildren. The broken heart is mine.
