Norman C. Weissberg

Norman C. Weissberg

11/17/1935 – September 11, 2012

In June, 2001, Norman and I (his wife) retired from our respective positions. We were residents of the Nassau County on Long Island. After much discussion, we both decided to register for the Disaster Mental Health course at the American Red Cross in New York. We felt strongly that we had been so fortunate in our lives that we wanted to give back to those in need. Our first deployment was on 9/11/01. We worked for 7 weeks helping families and airline personal cope with this horrific tragedy. The meaning of that day is depicted in the square for the quilt. It was quite ironic that Norman died suddenly on 9/11/12.

He was an incredible man who gave his all in everything he did. He was a PhD psychologist, a full professor as well as a Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Brooklyn College, part of the City University of New York.

Upon our move to Bucks he became the Director of Training for CONTACT, the Suicide Hotline. He lectured widely on both Adult and Adolescent suicide. Among other professional organizations, he was on the Executive Board of the Philadelphia Society of Clinical Psychologists.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.

We as a family feel blessed that he lives on in others.
