Paul E. Ebersole

Our Dad and Pappy, Paul E. Ebersole, passed away August 7, 2013, a day before his birthday. It broke our hearts that he left us but we knew he went to a better place. He had fought 11 years of different health problems including kidney cancer, a failing kidney that later required dialysis and diabetes. The quilt we have designed is something very simple. He was a man who liked the simple things in life. Dad liked a variety of colors but we felt that blue was his favorite. The star is made from one of his flannel shirts. We chose the star for his love of nature and being outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his only grandchild, Makayla. Our family always said to Makayla, “We love you more than all the stars in the sky and all the fish in the deep blue sea.” Dad was also loved in the same way. So again, the star is very fitting for this quilt patch. He had a caring heart and was constantly giving to others in any way he could. Donating to the Gift of Life Program made perfect sense, the possibility in which a part of him could go on helping others is truly meaningful. The picture is a photo of him at the top of the Smokey Mountains overlooking the beautiful mountains and the sky as if he was looking towards the heavens. He loved traveling on vacation with the family. He is very much missed and loved by all of us.
