David B. Taylor

David Benson Taylor

3/22/51 – 7/23/13

David wanted to be a donor. Because he was very sick for a long time, we laughed at the idea of any part of him being donate-able. David had a great sense of humor and his dry wit caught many off guard. However, a few hours after he died of kidney failure, I received a call saying that his corneas could be donated. Despite my great grief, I found peace in knowing that he would be able to help someone else see again. He wasn’t ready to leave us but I know that giving this gift would have made him very happy.

David cherished his family and was my very best friend. He was a caring, supportive father who loved both his children and their spouses. His greatest joy, perhaps, were his grandchildren. Granddaughter was 2 ½ when he died and she remembers many times she spent with him. Grandson was born 6 weeks before his death. His struggle to live to see him born is a testament to his great love of his family. They will remember him from pictures and from knowing that he is now a star in Heaven that they can see every night.

I feel your love surrounding me and this remains with me.

So watch the stars and you will see that shining one is only me.

The background of the panel is from one of his favorite sweatshirts. The star on this panel represents our knowledge that David is always with us. Because his family was most important in his life, the points of the star represent each of us. We miss you Iron D.
