Scott Daniel Barger, “Scott” was born and raised in Pennsylvania where he enjoyed friends and family, shining with his adventurous, creative and bold nature. Intelligent, handsome, funny and talented in many ways he grew to have a difficult early manhood as young men often do, by their very natures yearning to be leaders, trend setters and explorers as Scott himself tried to be. He later moved West seeking new frontiers and spent his adult years in Colorado working as a “brilliant” computer programmer but then dying much too soon. Always a dreamer, and always hoping to do something special and something good for others he struggled with his difficulties with a problem filled life looking to find the roadmap to success and a way to work things out for the best. Following his father’s early death 12 years before while awaiting an organ transplant, Scott suffered a heart attack at age 38 and in dying gave 59 plus gifts of life to others through the gift of organs, bone and tissue donation and for asthma research. Scott is sorely missed by his family and remembered greatly with love (We’ll always miss you, Scott).
Scott is still a prism of light, as we all are, in the rainbow of God’s love.
When I visited his grave last July on Scott’s birthday, I was kneeling at the grave when suddenly the dark storm clouds overhead cleared; I looked up and saw a rainbow streaming downward right to the image shown in the quilt block on the gravestone and there in the rainbow was also a shimmering white mist in the shape of a dove flying up and through it.
