Scott Barber Bedford

“Coach Bedford”

This quilt square is dedicated in loving memory of Scott Barber Bedford. The square is made from the fabric of the shirt he is wearing in this picture. The photograph was taken in front of the State Capital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania while serving as an archival intern.

God blessed our family with a precious little boy on November 6, 1982. He grew from a blond haired, blue eyed boy who loved He-man, Thundercats, WWE Wrestling and Nintendo into a young man whose impact was far reaching. Scott was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, godfather, and friend. When he passed our grief was profound. Through the grieving process, we realized that life was not about the happy ending but it was about the story- his story. Scott’s life was about persevering through the disappointment which made the accomplishments so much sweeter. His story was about his immense love for his family, his dog “Melky” and the “Bronx Bombers”. An avid sports fan, his love of sports allowed him to coach and mentor many of our area youth. His passion about history and politics lead him to a teaching career and a master’s degree from Bloomsburg University. Scott touched so many lives along the way and his impact has far exceeded anything he could have ever imagined. While his story on earth has ended, his spirit soars in the heavens until the day we all meet again and the story continues.

Scott lives on in so many ways- in the resemblance and demeanor of his niece and nephews, in the recipients who will enjoy long, happy lives because of his gift of life and most importantly he lives on “forever in our hearts”. He 31 years on earth were far too short but we are eternally grateful each and every day God blessed us with our beloved son.

We “Love You Forever”
