On July 27,1978, Michael Seidick was 8 years old, down to 32 pounds and in dire need of a kidney transplant.
“I had been on dialysis for nine months and they were only giving me two weeks to live,” Seidick said. “Thankfully, a donor came along selflessly and thanks to that donor, who I never met, I’m here today.”
Not only is Seidick still here, but he’s a champion.
Nearly 40 years to the day after his received his first live-saving transplant, Seidick and his partner, Paul Albert of Catasauqua, a double-lung transplant recipient, teamed up for a golf doubles title at the Transplant Games of America in Salt Lake City.
Seidick also won the net title in the men’s 40-49 age group.
But beyond his ability as a golfer, Seidick, a 1987 Whitehall graduate, wants his title to be about the importance and need of organ donors.
