Clarence Banks regularly goes straight from 5 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. dialysis sessions to work as manager of Boscov’s in Camp Hill.
Banks, 62, went most of his adult life without medical checkups. “I guess I had a fear of doctors,” he says.
After his wife insisted he get a checkup, he learned he had extremely high blood pressure. Further tests revealed a cyst on one of his kidneys. At first, doctors hoped to remove the cyst and save part of the kidney. But during surgery they found the cyst was too large, forcing removal of the kidney.
