Gift of Life Donor Program celebrates 50 years of saving lives

A life-saving organ donor program is celebrating its 50th anniversary by rallying its healthcare partners and the community to join them in furthering their commitment to organ donation.

Nationally, there are more than 100,000 people waiting for an organ transplant, 17 people die each day while waiting and every 10 minutes another person’s name is added to the list.

The Gift of Life Donor Program provides organ and tissue donation for the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware. Gift of Life has coordinated 14,196 donors and 39,469 organs for transplants since the inception of the national donation system in 1988. In 2023 Gift of Life continued to build its 50 year legacy with 693 organ donors resulting in 1,734 transplants.
