Gift of Life Donor Program Names New Medical Policy and Advisory Board Members in 2025

Philadelphia, PA, March 19, 2025 – Gift of Life Donor Program, the non-profit, federally designated organ procurement organization serving the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware, has announced the addition of seven new members to its Medical Advisory and Policy Board (MAPB).

“We’re excited to welcome these accomplished healthcare leaders to our Medical Advisory and Policy Board, bringing a broad range of experience in transplantation, nursing, emergency care and neurocritical care,” said Rick Hasz, Gift of Life Donor Program President and CEO. “We look forward to their guidance and support as we continue our 50-year tradition of leadership in donation and transplantation, striving to end the transplant waitlist.”

Gift of Life Medical Advisory and Policy Board

Seven new members of the MAPB were elected to represent important constituencies across our community:

  • Hospital Administrator: Joseph DiMartino, MSN, RN, Associate Vice President of Nursing, Director of Nursing Critical Care & Trauma, Temple University Hospital
  • Neuroscience Field: James Peoples, MD, Neurocritical Care Specialist, Div. Trauma/Critical Care, UPMC Harrisburg
  • ICU or Emergency Room: Kelly Willman, MD, FACHE, Trauma Director, Dept. of Surgery, Atlanticare Regional Medical Center
  • Transplant Center Representative: Kamran Khanmoradi, MD, Transplant Surgery, Jefferson Einstein Hospital
  • Transplant Center Representative: Jaime Glorioso, MD, Assistant Professor, Transplant Surgery, Jefferson Health
  • Transplant Center Representative: Christopher Derby, MD, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Nemours Children’s Health
  • Transplant Center Representative: Ronald F. Parsons, MD, Surgical Director, Kidney & Pancreas Transplant Programs, University of Pennsylvania Medical Center

MAPB members provide expertise and guidance to Gift of Life in recommending policy on a variety of initiatives related to increasing donation opportunities and enhancing relationships with hospital partners.

Gift of Life Donor Program

Gift of Life Donor Program, founded in 1974 and headquartered in Philadelphia, is the federally designated organ procurement organization (OPO) for the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware serving 11.3 million people. It works with 124 acute care hospitals and 12 transplant centers in its region, as well as hundreds of transplant centers throughout the country, to provide the most comprehensive array of services available in the U.S. to the donation and transplantation community. Thanks to the generosity of its community, Gift of Life has coordinated 14,860 donors and 41,140 organs for transplant, the most of any OPO in the country since the inception of our national donation system in 1988. Overall, Gift of Life has coordinated more than 62,000 organs and more than two million tissue transplants since its founding. One organ donor can save the lives of up to eight people and a tissue donor can improve the lives of 100 others.
