Gift of Life extends its streak leading the country in coordinating organ donations

Make that 15 straight.

The Philadelphia-based Gift of Life Donor Program once again led the country in life-saving organ donations, extending a streak that began in 2008.

Last year, Gift of Life coordinated the most organ donors and the most organs for transplant among the 57 organ procurement organizations in the United States.

Specifically, the nonprofit organization that serves the eastern half of Pennsylvania, South Jersey and Delaware coordinated life-saving gifts from 690 organ donors, which resulted in 1,744 transplants.

Richard Hasz, CEO of Gift of Life, credited the continued success to the region’s “community filled with families of incredible generosity,” the work of the organization’s hospital partners, and the organization’s own staff that “works around the clock every day to save lives.”
