When it comes to the urgent need for more life-saving organ transplants, living kidney donors are an important part of the solution, said transplant surgeon Dr. Stephen Guy.
“There are many more patients waiting for a kidney transplant than there are recently deceased potential donors,” said Guy, surgical director of kidney transplantation for the Tower Health Transplant Institute.
“There are always fewer deceased donors than can provide organs for those waiting,” he said.
