Mike was an extrovert who was witty and very intelligent. He was a gifted athlete who excelled in baseball and basketball. In school, he was popular and could definitely hold court. For most of his adult life, though, he was plagued by manic depression. The disease brought on addictions and an inability to manage his life. His illness also affected his relationship with his family. As a consequence, our family did not see Mike too much during his adult life which ended when he collapsed at a homeless shelter in Atlantic City. In the end, he was able to save lives of others through the gift of organ donation. We pray that Mike is at peace with the Lord.
