From a very young age Meghan was thinking globally. Not long after she learned to write she had pen pals state-side and internationally. She insisted on attending an overnight, out of state, summer camp about the time she was eight years old. Her inquisitiveness, zest for life and passion for travel brought her many adventures.
As a teen she traveled to Spain with her class and Australia with her family. In college she spent a semester in Melbourne, Australia and another in Beijing, China. During and after these semesters, besides traveling extensively within these countries, she visited Thailand, South Africa, Malaysia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. During her senior year at Loyola College (Baltimore, MD) she spent her spring break in Costa Rica and after graduation spent a month in India before beginning a management training program with BB&T, headquartered in Winston-Salem, NC. These experiences opened her eyes and shaped her life.
Meg had blossomed into a smart, confident, and happy young woman. She lived and worked in Arlington, VA and her enjoyed her life there and her work with BB&T. She fell in love; was sure she met the one for her. She was on top of the world!
Meg was always forthright, honest, and respectful. She embraced diversity and was inclusive, reaching out to others of different faiths and cultures. May all those whose lives she touched feel her strength.
To parents everywhere:
Teach your children good morals and respect for themselves and others. Keep an open line of communication. Always encourage them to reach for the stars. Let them make age-appropriate decisions for themselves. And let them go; let them enjoy life. I am comforted that Meg lived her short life happily and to the fullest.
