Jose R. Espinosa Rivera

"Papo"

March 21, 1969 – October 8, 1997

Life change the night I was notified about Jose's car accident. He was 28, healthy, full of plans and dreams. While praying for a miracle, I remembered how intensely he had lived, as if he didn't have enough time.

Jose was a free spirit who loved the ocean, interested in it's protection and that of endangered species. Excellent surfer, enjoyed motorcycles, sailing, traveling and meeting people. Always willing to help other, especially the homeless. Dreamed of visiting Alaska and owning his boating business.

Jose loved his family and his Island (P.R.). More than a son, he was my friend. Intelligent, artistic, hard worker, good natured, honest, proud. His laughter was contagious and he had magic in his eyes. He was daring. Perhaps foreseeing his destiny, had expressed his wish to donate his organs and he cremated.

This patch is of his last birthday in P.R. He had just marred and life looked good. He moved to Delaware, near his sister. Was present at the birth of his first niece, excited, overjoyed. Finally he was an Uncle. Five day later God called him home.

We were blessed to have Jose for 28 wonderful and loving years. He touched our lives in countless ways. He taught us love, courage, humility, commitment, forgiveness. Jose lives in our hearts and will be remembered for his kindness, love of life, faith in God and his gift of life to others.

With love, Maria Rivera
