Raymond J. Shortt

Enclosed, please find my quilt panel in memory of Raymond J. Shortt. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to honor my wonderful husband by sharing this information about him. Ray was the warmest, most loving person I have ever known. He married me – widow with 5 children (4 of them were teenagers! the youngest 7). He dearly loved them as much as his own 2 sons. He adored his grandchildren AND his '67' Chevy pick-em-up truck. He was a hard worker and worked for the same company for 37 years. Ray was a self taught handy man and loved to fix things, and tried to fix everything including cuts, scrapes and a teenager's broken heart. He was very charitable and always willing to help. If you were his friend – you were his friend for life and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for you. My lifelong dream was to be a nurse, he worked an extra job so I could go back to school and realize that dream. He loved God and his country and wouldn't hesitate to tell you so. He loved Disney World and we shared many happy vacations there with our grandchildren. Ray was my best friend and I miss him terribly. And I have to be honest and tell you that he really didn't LOVE Disney that much – He went 16 times because I loved Disney that much. Ra had the most beautiful laugh in the world and always had a joke to tell. There is so much more that I could say about this wonderful man but I will stop here. I am assured that Ray is in Heaven with God and I am being very good so that one day we will be together again. Til then I will find solace in remembering a "guy named Ray".

Sincerely,

Bonnie Shortt
