William Spafford

10/09/1941-12/12/2009

Bill was born in Holyoke, MA, grew up in CT, graduated from East Hartford High School, spent 5 years in the Navy, attaining the rank of Petty Officer, 3rd class, moved to PA, married a PA girl, raised 3 children, and enjoyed 2 grandsons until the time of his death. He worked at Specialty Minerals for 33 years before retiring.

While working full time, he became a CPR and First Aid instructor, volunteered as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and paramedic with the Forks Twp. Emergency Squad, volunteered as a fire policeman for the Stockertown Fire Company. He also served as Councilman and Mayor of Tatamy.

Upon his retirement with lots of time on his hands, he became involved with the Retired Service Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Bushkill Stream Conservancy (BSC), holding several offices, and the Washington Twp. Environmental Action Committee (EAC).

Bill loved to take trips out to Lancaster County with his wife and CT to visit his family. He especially enjoyed spending time at Frogtown Acres, a B&B in Amish country.

He truly enjoyed helping others and even in death, he gave his all as an organ donor.

His untimely death at 68 left a very large hole in the lives of the people who knew and loved him.
