David, “Papi”, was a loving, caring, son, father, brother and friend to many. A hard worker, and proud of his Irish heritage. David’s patch includes the Murphy name and the Fighting Irish symbol that he used as his logo on his sweatshirts, tee shirts and business cards, for his Murphy’s Plumbing and Heating business.
Helpful and big-hearted – While growing up, whenever Dave wasn’t where he was supposed to be, his excuse was always, “I was helping a kid”. That saying stuck with him and, in later years, if he was running late his brothers would always joke and say; “He must be helping a kid”. Thing is, he usually really was.
A portion of a poem attributed to Emerson called “Success” is fitting. “To laugh often and much; To find the best in others; To leave the world a better place; To know that one life has breathed easier because you have lived”.
Dave did laugh often. His laugh was infectious. He was genuine, non-judgmental, honest, happy, and free-spirited. He followed his own path and did things his own way.
Words can’t articulate what Dave was, nor what he meant to so many people. What he was, and meant, will always be unique and special to those who knew him. He will live on the hearts of many and his own big heart will continue to live on in one. And, like the poem, that one life will breathe easier because of Dave.
