Eric Robert Smith

Eric was a hardworking, fun-loving young man – we treasured him so and still do! There never seemed to be enough hours in the day for Eric. He was a very caring “big brother” who provided lots of advice to his only sister, Ashley. He was the type of son and brother that made us very proud. He had friends from all walks of life and they were incredibly special to him. After Eric passed, many of his friends commented that they were glad Eric’s organs were donated because he was the type of person that would do anything to help someone in need. He was the person that everyone could count on! Eric chose to be an organ donor when he received his driver’s license. Little did we know that driving would cause his death.

June 12, 2011 – Eric was killed in a car accident. He fell asleep at the wheel, while driving home from the shore. We’ll never forget that horrible night, but we choose to focus on all the good he brought to life. Exactly one month prior, he had graduated from Temple University’s Fox School of Business with honors! His area of study was Risk Management and Insurance. He was hired by Lockheed Martin. Prior to his graduation, he told us that he felt that he was going to go places and do great things. We couldn’t have agreed more.

God had a plan for Eric and called him home. It broke our hearts. Knowing that though organ donation Eric gave the gift of life to Arlinda, James, Isiah and one other recipient comforts us tremendously. We are so grateful for having had the gift of Eric!
