This quilt square we created in honor of our Charles.
The poem, “I carry your heart with me”, by E.E. Cummings, helps to bring us comfort during the especially difficult moments of missing him.
He donated his organs on October 16, 2011.
His Mother, Father, 2 sisters and brother-in-law proudly walked him as far as we were permitted, to the OR doors; knowing it was the end of our road but a new beginning for 3 others.
We miss him every day but we take care knowing he lives on in so many wonderful ways.
And even though we no longer can hear his boisterous laugh, soak up his beautiful smile or enjoy his bear hugs, we carry his heart with us…we carry it in our hearts…we are never without it.
