Richard Arthur Adams

The square for Richard Adams was designed by his niece, Laura Borley, a quilter. His wife, Janet Adams, asked Laura to make it with a Lighthouse and a shore scene as this is what they enjoyed visiting and Richard photographed so many around our country.
Richard was born and raised in Oregon. He graduated from West Linn High School and attended Portland State University.
Richard served his country in the US Army, and met Janet at a Service Club Dance at Fort Monmouth, NJ. Upon his discharge, Richard and Janet were married, January 23, 1965. Richard then worked for the US Army, DOD, instructing GI’s and maintaining electrical equipment for 35 years. The family lived in Pittsburgh, PA, Niagara Falls, NY, Minneapolis, MN, Kaiserslautern, Germany, Sierra Vista, AZ, Fayettesville, NC and Toms River, NJ. Richard went to Vietnam, Korea, Iran, and Panama as well as all over the US for his job, enjoying traveling, learning about the area and sampling the local beer. Richard was a proud father, never missing a son’s sports activity and coaching many youth teams. Upon retirement in 2002, he and Janet moved to Greentown, PA. They purchased a motor home and traveled around the country visiting lighthouses, National Parks, family and friends. Richard enjoyed photographing lighthouses, the many beautiful areas of the country, family and especially his grandchildren. Richard was an avid bowler all his life, enjoyed listening to jazz, attending many concerts and festivals, and dancing with Janet.
