Roger was an outdoorsman in every sense of the word. An avid hunter, he was a life member of the NRA. He was outdoors more than he was in the house! He served in the Army and firmly believed in our great country, especially the second amendment.
Roger's quilt panel starts with the background fabric. This buttercream chintz is cut from the shirt that he wore for our wedding on May 28, 1989. I had made both his shirt and my wedding dress from the same fabric.
The camouflage mountains are made from a favorite pair of his hunting pants. I swear he owned camouflage in every pattern made!
The NRA patch is a symbol of one of Roger's most heartfelt passions, and is purposely placed on the panel as if it were the sun.
Roger left behind an eleven-year-old son who was his very best friend. He died at the height of their chance to make many special memories. They spent so much time together, that I often tell my son that they made more memories in eleven years than most men get to make in an entire lifetime.
