Lynell Sterner

Lynell Sterner was born on April 9, 1949. She grew up in Macungie, PA with her parents and three brothers. To her family and friends, she was known as “Lynn.” To her son and daughter, she was a loving “mom.” She died on October 29, 2012 after a long illness. Her children donated her corneas to the Gift of Life Program to help others see the world more clearly.

Her favorite colors were blue and purple and are represented in the quilt square. The fabric for the square came from a blanket belonging to her cat, Snickers who passed away five months before Lynn. His ashes are buried with her.The flower pattern represents her love of flowers and gardening. The cross on the flower stem symbolizes her faith in God and her involvement in the Lutheran Church. The leaves represent her love of family, friends, children and her cat. The petals of the flower symbolize Lynn’s enjoyment of life.

She was a baseball fan, especially the Phillies. She loved to fish with her son and son-in-law. She camped by the creek the night before the first day of trout season. She loved going shopping with her daughter and shopping on QVC. Many of her outfits included matching jewelry, purses and shoes. The more “bling” on the outfit, the more she liked it!One of the things she is remembered for most is her love of baking for church activities and holidays. Christmas was her favorite of the holidays. She loved to decorate her tree with her handmade needle point ornaments as well as displaying her collection of snowmen.

In the summer she enjoyed picnics, always patriotic music; and trips to the Jersey shore with family and friends. We miss you Mom!
