Samuel Lucas Downs

March 2, 1982 – June 20, 2014

Born in Boone, North Carolina. Sam lived in San Antonio, Texas and Pennsylvania. He was a good listener, humorous, creative and copper was a theme throughout his life. He designed a copper fish in his fifth grade class. He loved the beach, his PlayStation, skateboard, bike, and Stewie from Family Guy. He was very generous with his time and talents. He was a good kid one of the cool kids! My sister and I used to sing “you are my sunshine my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are gray, you’ll never know dear how much we love you.” His smile was a light to a mother’s heart. Sam also shared many memories with his sister Bernadine. His favorite pizza was pizza perfect. He described himself as attending “Desk Duty at Our Lords Angels School” studied at Gate of heaven Academy. Today is his graduation Gift of Life. We are so proud of him! While Sam lived in Texas we visited some of his favorite places. The Alamo, riverwalk, Shlitterbahn waterpark and rested at Gulf of Mexico. Our room # was 316. We went up the elevator quoting John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Sam was a fan of the “Spurs” basketball team. June 16, 2014 they won the NBA Championships. It was our last special moment at his bedside. It would have made him “Happy” Pharrell Williams would sing that the best. Sam admired “Paul Walker”. He loved the movie the Fast and Furious. “He said it will never be the same.” He enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean, “Walk the Plank”, Madagascar and as a child, Stand by Me.
