Gary P. Reichert Jr.

January 15, 1990-November 5, 2013

Our quilt square is designed in memory of Gary P. Reichert Jr. Gary was taken from us suddenly on November 5, 2013; while it was a very difficult time, it was Gary that guided us by checking his license “Yes” at the age of 17 to become an organ donor. So when that fateful day came we didn’t have to wonder what his wishes were, he made it clear to us and the decision was a bit easier to make. We know that Gary lives on in others and knowing that brings comfort to his family and friends. Our square has smaller 4 smaller squares that represent a part of Gary’s life.

The dollar signs are for Gary’s nickname “G$”

The dog prints are for his beloved black lab and best friend Chooch.

The Philadelphia Phillies

The Green Bay Packers (this square has special meaning because the material came from part of his bedroom curtains that Gary hand chose when he was younger)

Lastly, we included a picture of Gary and trimmed the square in orange which was his favorite color.

These items are also part of the logo for “Team G$.” Team G$ is a group of family and friends working together to raise money for “The Gary P. Reichert Jr. Memorial Scholarship” awarded yearly to a graduating Highland HS football player and as we work together to support the Gift of Life Howie’s House.

What isn’t represented on the square is how much he is loved and missed daily by his family, girlfriend and friends or just how very proud we all are of Gary for his decision to donate life, and that he is truly our “HERO!”
