James V. Romeo

His legacy

August 1, 1969-March 20, 2013

Jimmy always gave without asking. He would drop anything in a minute, for anyone, at anytime, even putting himself last to help anyone in need. He never asked, ‘what do you need?’ He just stepped up and gave. He wasn’t a donor for the tribute we gave him here. This is the essence of Jimmy, and his loving and giving spirit lives on. It challenges us to live for a purpose greater than ourselves. His contagious smile and laugh lives on in us. His generous spirit continues to inspire us to love and to give. To remind us also that to love and to give can be the same.

That is the legacy we will pass on from him to his beloved children James and Jaedyn. Their father, our parents’ son, our brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, godfather, husband and friend was special to all of us in so many ways. He was proud of us. We were proud of him. He loved his children. We loved him. He brought out the best in us. He loved us all well. He brought us joy. Yet most of all, he taught us to open our hearts and give love, purely for the giving.

He was the proud owner of Black Diamond Paving and Excavating. He loved the outdoors in work and in leisure. Whether in a canoe on the river or enjoying skiing in the mountains in the white crisp snow or trailblazing in Arizona. “We are family” will always create a pause for a smile with his sisters. His legacy lives on.
