Aisling Cooke

Our square was created by our dear friends in remembrance of our daughter Aisling. Aisling was critically injured on her way to a charity soccer tournament with her HS teammates. She died on what would have been her first day of high school. The quilt square’s design is based on a legacy tile that Aisling made in 8th grade. Aisling chose the quote “We all live under the same sky, but we don’t all have the same horizon” by Konrad Adenauer and painted a tile that hangs in her middle school. The tile was replicated on the square and accents added. The cross represents her faith, the soccer ball her love of sports, the green heart with her initials and number is something that her friends and family use to remember and honor her, the photo is her 8th grade picture and the ray of sequins represents the unexplained rays of light that have appeared in many photos since we lost Aisling. The square’s border is made of material from Aisling’s soccer and lacrosse uniforms.
