This quilt square is in memory of Bruce R Solomon Sr., of Jim Thorpe, PA, our beloved brother, husband, father of 5, and grandfather of 11.
He was a volunteer firefighter for the Diligent Fire Co #3 for 44 years.
He lost his battle to Pulmonary Fibrosis, a lung disease that turns lung tissue into scar tissue. Before he passed away, it was his wish that he donate all organs that could be used to save another. So, in his death, he gave life.
This picture is of Bruce when he was happy and healthy. The ribbon is for Pulmonary Fibrosis awareness. The firefighter patch is for his 44 years of service. The quote: “All men are created equal, Then a few become firemen” was for him and his brotherhood of firefighters, and is on his tombstone,
