Marita Logan Shaffer

We appreciate being able to be here with other families to celebrate their loved ones and our Marita. who unselfishly by being organ donors helped other families’ loved ones.

Marita was 18 when she left us on June 5, 2013. This was 3 days before her high school graduation, which we attended in our grief to celebrate her twin brother, Roger graduating.

Marita was and still is sweet, beautiful and kind. She always reached out to help others.

Our quilt square is as such for the following reasons. Yellow background for the sun, which she loved and brought her sunshine into our daily lives- “My Rita I love you” from when Brooks and Dunn did a remake of “My Maria.”Marita was young and we always sang it with- “My Marita, I love you” which lit up her face. Her favorite color was orange and her best friend Kayla’s was green. They always texted each other pictures of random things with those two colors. The butterfly is her spirit of freedom and now she is truly free. The words in her circle represent the circle of love and family that we will forever have in our hearts for Marita now that she is in the loving arms of God in Heaven.

We will always love and miss our “Sweetie Marita”- our Marita and miss her daily with all our hearts. I’m sorry we have to be here under these circumstances. But the loss of our loved ones is a blessing for someone else’s loved ones and their legacy will live on.

Marita Logan Shaffer- still in our hearts through eternity. We will see you again.

Marita started her life 12 weeks early in the NICU at Hershey Medical Center on 11-21-94. Each day was a rollercoaster. Thankfully both her and her twin brother struggled daily and made it. Marita finally came home January 15, 1995. Marita brightened our lives.

She left us in the ICU of York Trauma Center- due to someone else’s careless driving after 5 days of suffering. Through the Gift of Life Program, even though she is not able to have her own children, someone else will be able to see their children/family through Marita’s beautiful brown eyes. I would just love to look into those yes once again. My Marita, I love you.

XOXO Mom and Dad
