To honor John Nat, the base of the square incorporates many of his favorite things. The guitar, the foundation represents John’s love of music and his love of guitars, he had 3, 2 were electric and 1 acoustic. John spend many hours in the basement (his Man Cave) strumming away. It was both his stress relief and his relaxation. He had taken lessons as a youngster and later continued practicing, although he mostly played by ear. He was very good at it too, as a young adult he had even played in a few garage bands and enjoyed time with friends. His favorite bands include Def Leppard, Boston, and his very favorite Juda Priest. John also loved the outdoors and spent a good deal of time going on hikes with his son, Christopher; it was one of their favorite things to do together. John also loved hunting and fishing. Joh was a true hero in all aspects of his life; he was a retired Sergeant in the Army National Guard having served for 24 years both as a basic Medical Specialist and in the Infantry division. John also was a hero to his community and was a very active volunteer firefighter sin the age of 16 having served in 3 local departments in his career as a volunteer. The moon and stars symbolize how he ended all phone calls, texts, cards, and notes to his wife an even tucking his son into bed at night would always say “I love you to the moon and back.” Lastly, the center of his guitar is his photo; the photo was taken from a family photo on his last earthly Christmas, his favorite holiday. We love you now and forever, John Nat!
