#89-Jackson

Audrey Jackson was born in Rienzi, Mississippi and grew up with 11 siblings. She shared childhood memories of picking cotton in the fields. Her family moved to Delaware where she married and had two sons, Gordon and Douglas who gave her five grandchildren. She was a homemaker who briefly worked as a cook and seamstress. Audrey lived a life of service to her community by becoming a member of the Red Hats Society, long time board member of the Mamie Warren Senior Center and a 32-year life member of the Hartly Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Audrey enjoyed traveling and collecting angels and decorative chickens. She looked forward to her annual camping trip with her best friends with great enthusiasm. She had amazing culinary skills and shared her many creative talents by handmaking gifts for her friends and family. She met many people through social activities like the Pokeno Ladies and playing hand and foot and bingo. She loved to talk on the telephone and never hung up without saying I love you. Her love of yellow roses was reflective of how she valued friendships and lived a life of happiness. She will be remembered for her generosity, love of life and family, and her huge heart.
