This quilt square is in honor of Brian David Johnston. He was our baby brother, the youngest of six children born to Irish immigrants. Brian was very proud of his heritage, which is represented by the shamrock in the middle of the square. Brian enjoyed hiking, fishing and the outdoors. He was a loyal Philadelphia sports fan, and supported the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers. He was a house painter for many years and had his own business called Dublin Painting. The white portions of the quilt square with paint splatters were cut from Brian’s painter’s pants. Brian loved dogs and Rudy was the love of his life. In recent years, he supported animal rescue organizations. After his beloved Rudy passed away, he adopted a dog that he was fostering. Brian had a huge heart and a wonderful sense of humor. It did not surprise us, when Brian died suddenly, that he was an organ donor. Brian is very much missed by his brother, sisters and many friends. It is in keeping with his generous spirit that Brian’s final act of giving was to help others through organ donation.
