This quilt square is dedicated to Ezekiel Wilson Slater. Son, brother, uncle, and devoted friend. He was sunflowers, cupcakes, fried pickles, avocados, hot wings, birthdays, Christmas, music, headphones, Newport’s, compassion, loving, and most of all his beautiful smile. Ezekiel made a choice at 16 to be an organ donor without ever knowing that only a few years later, he would actually lose his life at 21 and save five others from that decision. That was Ezekiel. Selfless words cannot express how much your loved ones miss you and the light that you brought to us. You’d say if there’s a time that we cannot be together, keep me in your heart that’s where I’ll stay forever.
